Priceline or Hotwire: Which is Cheaper?

One thing people often wonder about with Priceline is how much to put when you bid for a hotel room?  They wonder this because they want to know which is cheaper, Priceline or Hotwire.

Priceline and Hotwire Offer Great Travel Deals

The answer, you decide.  Priceline may be cheaper, but make Hotwire your max bid price.  Neither is consistently cheaper so you will need to follow the procedure below to make sure you get the cheapest price for your travel plans.

How to Get the Best Price Between Priceline and Hotwire

Here is a simple little procedure that will give you some guidance.

Step One: Go to Hotwire. Type all your information.
Step Two: Once you have all your Hotwire prices go to Priceline
Step Three: Name a price with Priceline that is between $5-25 cheaper than the Hotwire price for the same location and same star hotel. If you can get the hotel for cheaper with Priceline, great! But do not bid more than you know you can get the room for at Hotwire so go back to Hotwire and make the booking there.
Step Four: Enjoy the trip. It will be easy because you will have a cheap, but very nice hotel.

Even though I am specifically speaking about Hotwire and Priceline. Don’t forget to check Sidestep and Expedia to see if you can grab a great deal with a hotel’s posted price. Nine out of ten times you will be better off with either Priceline or Hotwire.
