Unfortunately, when I travel I am typically oblivious to the tipping expectations – until I arrive. On a recent trip to Australia my wife left the restaurant to find someone to ask about tipping. Both Canadian and American cultures have high tipping expectations so when travelling our natural inclination is to tip for everything. - Here is Magellan’s Worldwide tipping guideline – It includes the majority of countries (not all) and give the expectations for restaurants, porters, and taxis.
- Tipping.org features fewer countries in their tipping guideline, but it is always good to check two guides against each other.
Remember that North American citizens have a reputation for over tipping. Here’s a tip – follow country specific guidelines.
